Theme: HUMAN FLOURISHING
Economic success has become disconnected from social and environmental well-being, highlighting the need for a new paradigm that reconnects these dimensions. The flourishing-centered economic paradigm addresses this by embedding economic activity within social, political, and environmental systems. It offers an explanation for how economic prosperity can become decoupled from, and then recoupled with, broader human and planetary flourishing.
This paradigm emphasizes that solving collective challenges requires cooperation beyond the self-interest, fostered by shared identities, values, norms, narratives, and institutions. By focusing on multilevel flourishing, it provides a comprehensive framework for reimagining policies, business practices, and institutions. Rather than prioritizing economic growth alone, it promotes human flourishing as the ultimate goal of economic and political systems.
