Deep inequalities persist, with 71% of the global population living in countries where socio-economic disparities have grown. Reflecting on Brazil’s G20 Presidency tackling poverty and inequality, South Africa’s G20 leadership focuses on increasing investments to address these challenges.
To contribute to this global debate GIZ, in collaboration with the GSI, has launched a Solutions Lab to better align multilateral public finance with inequality reduction. While funds such as the Green Climate Fund aim to support global transformation agendas (Agenda 2030, Paris Climate Agreement, Convention on Biological Diversity), they often operate in silos, sometimes reinforcing inequalities in resource distribution.
The session compiles a collection of perspectives that present a critical outlook on the current compartmentalized investments and pathways for an integrated finance modality.
